August 1, 2012 is a BIG DAY for women in America!!!  Why, you may ask?  Well, we are DELIGHTED that you asked!  August 1, 2012 is a BIG DAY for American women because a significant part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which we will no longer please Republicans by calling it ..........  The correct name is the Affordable Care Act (ACA), if you please.

How will American women benefit from the Affordable Care Act?  Well, we're glad you asked.  Here's are the benefits American women will begin to receive with NO COST sharing for new health plans as of August 1, 2012:

Additional preventive care services for women - including

Be Careful What You Say!

The GOP presumptive nominee has stated time and again that President Obama has been going around the world apologizing for America.  He even stated that if he becomes the president he won't be apologizing to any country for what America does.  Boy, oh boys!  How often do we have to 'eat' our words?  What we say often comes back to haunt us as Governor Romney now finds himself not only embarrassing Americans with his gaffe, after gaffe, in London but also needing to walk back his criticism of the London Olympic organizers.

A Nation In Mourning

The United States is in mourning after a 24 year old suspect, James Holmes, killed 12 people and injured 59 others at the opening of the latest Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises" in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado.

From all reports the tragedy had been well planned as the suspect apparently had several guns and other substances that were used in his deadly massacre.  This senseless act will certainly stir up questions about gun laws in this country.  Many are wondering if politicians will have the nerve to "do the right thing" and not only press for changes in gun laws, but also enact changes before more innocent lives are lost.  No longer should politicians who are funded by the NRA be voted into office.  No longer should innocent Americas have to die because every and anybody is allowed to go out and buy as many guns as he/she wants only to end up carrying out mercy less acts as the Aurora shooting.  

Many of the dead and the injured are believed to be young people.  While the identity of most of the dead have not yet been officially released among them is said to be Jessica Ghawi, a sportswriter who survived a mass shooting at a mall in Toronto, Canada just last month on June 2nd.

We extend condolences to the family of the deceased and our prayers and best wishes for a speedy and full recovery go out to the injured victims.

Conservatives Wondering About Romney

It's fascinating to listen and read about how conservatives are reacting to their GOP nominee, Mitt Romney's Bain problem. 

Anyone with common sense who knew for years they want to run for the highest office in this land MUST come clean from day one or face scrutiny.  While releasing one's taxes from our understanding is not necessary, candidates running for just about any public office in the United States, especially that of president have made it their business to do so.  In fact, most candidates don't just release one year of their taxes but several as Mitt Romney's dad did when he released 12 years. 

So what's up with Governor Romney?  Does he think that he's above having his taxes made public.  If so, then it's no wonder Americans from both major political parties are demanding that he "show his paper" please so all the fuss about his Bain relationship and every other question people have could be cleared once and for all.  So come on Governor Romney "MAN UP"!  It's not a black man (if you think you don't have to answer to President Obama, although he isn't any more black than he is white) asking you to release your taxes.  In stead, it's the AMERICAN people, whom you want to lead as president who are DEMANDING that you "show your papers" please, sir.  If nothing else, you are probably now getting a dose of the 'medicine' you want to spoon out to Hispanics and other illegal people in this country by not only agreeing with the Arizona "Papers Please" law but also stating as part of your immigration policy, "Let them deport themselves".

So Governor Romney, come clean and release a couple more years of your taxes and let America see that you absolutely have nothing to hide about your retroactive retirement from Bain or anything else.

Visa MasterCard Fee Settlement

News broke earlier today that Visa, MasterCard and big banks have agreed to pay $7.3 billion to millions of merchants to end a seven-year dispute over credit card "swipe" fees.  While this is good news for some seven million merchants it is bad news for Visa and MasterCard users who are ordinary people like you and I.  Why bad news for us?  Well, as the report states, merchants who continue to accept Visa and MasterCard payments from customers would be able to charge us a fee for swiping our cards.  Wow! Customers just can't win for losing when it comes to BIG BANKS!  They have us by our "tails" no matter what the business - bad mortgage deals, high interest fees on our credit cards, and low interest on our savings, checking, money market, CD accounts to name a few.

Our best alternative to avoid the fees merchants now have the green light to charge us is to go back to paying with cash, which no doubt will make many of us worry about the possibility of being robbed for our CASH.  I wonder if our "beloved" political leaders will come to our rescue and save consumers and/or the merchants from having to pay the "swipe" fees?  After all the banks are the ones that came up with the cards so why not them footing the bill for us using them?  I thing that's only fair but I doubt our TOO BIG to fail banks with their greedy CEOs will consume the "swipe" fees.  That will just be too good to be true.  Instead, I believe consumers will end up paying two sets of fees: the "swipe" fee from merchants charge and knowing how greedy the banks have become they will pretend that the merchants aren't charging customers a "swipe" and charge their customers a fee disguising it as something else, as they always do.  Sad but true.

WAKE UP and SPEAK OUT, DEMOCRATS on The Affordable Care Act (ACA)!

The Supreme Court in a 5:4 vote up held the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  As we all know Americans are all over the place as they try to understand how the ACA will affect them for better or for worse.  

Do you know the details of the ACA?  Do you know the timeline for the implementation of the ACA?  Are you willing to find out for yourself rather than have BILLIONAIRES, MILLIONAIRES, Romney's SUPER PACKS, and the GOP feed you with LIES about the ACA?  Their sole purpose is to object to everything President Obama does so that he won't be successful and as they have been planning from the day he was sworn in to make him a one-term president.  What better way for them to pursue their agenda but to reject President Obama's historic signature legislation - the ACA.  Besides, while GOP lawmakers have already set July 11th for a vote to repeal the ACA, did you know that they are already enjoying benefits from the said ACA?  Yep, they are benefiting by having their 18-26 year old children remain on their health insurance.  Believe me I know how they feel being able to have their young adult remain on their insurance because my 21 year old son is benefiting from this as well.  In fact, he has been since 2009 when his dad's insurance company decided to start to implement that this part of the law then rather than waiting for the official passage of the Act in 2010 March.  This allowed my son to have continuous coverage after he turned 19 and it has been a blessing because we would have had to find private insurance for him.  

Does anyone else have a story to tell?  If so you need to speak up!!  It's the only way the truth will be heard and believed.  Share your story, whether you are a parent like me, senior who got a $250 check last June, someone with preexisting condition who can no longer be denied insurance coverage because of their condition.  All Democrats ought to be telling their story.  If you don't you will allow the HYPOCRITICAL GOP and Tea Party folks who want to repeal the ACA to make you dislike it while they continue to enjoy its benefits.  WAKE UP and SPEAK OUT, DEMOCRATS!!
